Salma Hayek

SalmaSalma Hayek Pinault, born Salma Valgarma Hayek Jamesenez on September 2, 1966, is an American and Mexican actress and producer. She started her career in Mexico with her starring role in the Telenovela Teresa (1989-1991) as and the romantic drama El Callejon de los Milagros (1995) for which she received an Ariel Award nomination. In films such as Desperado (1995), From Dusk till Dawn (1996), Wild Wild West (1999) and Dogma (1999) and Dogma (1999), she quickly established herself in Hollywood. Hayek's portrayal as painter Frida Kahlo in the biographical film Frida (2002) that she also produced was the first Mexican actress to be nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress[6In addition, she earned her Golden Globe Award, Screen Actors Guild Award and British Academy Film Award nominations. Hayek played the lead in the action-oriented Once Upon a Time in Mexico film in the years following and then remained focused on directing.
